Sternal Contusion
A bruise to the breastbone (sternum) caused by a direct blow to the front of the chest.
- Central chest pain
- Tenderness over sternum
- Pain with deep breathing
- Pain with movement
- Bruising
- A sore or sharp pain in the center of chest
- Worse with pressure or movement
- Pain when taking deep breaths
- Direct hit to chest
- Collision in contact sports
- Fall onto chest
- Is the pain directly in the center of your chest?
- Does pressing on the area make it worse?
- Did it start after a hit?
