Wrist Sprain
A wrist sprain is a type of injury where the parts of your body that hold your wrist bones together stretch or tear.
- Pain moving or twisting the wrist
- Wrist swelling
- Bruising or changes in skin color
- Wrist stiffness
- Sharp stabbing pain when you move or use your wrist
- Dull aching pain while at rest
- heat or tenderness of the wrist
- Falling and landing on outstretched hands
- repetitive wrist use (playing racket sports
- boxing
- etc)
- Is your wrist swelling?
- Does your wrist feel tender or warm to the touch?
- Is movement of your wrist followed by sharp pain?

- 1Avoid activities that can put stress on your wrist
- 2Put ice packs covered by a thin towel on your wrist for 15 minutes at a time a couple of times a day
- 3Wrap your wrist with a compression bandage but not too tightly so you don't cut off circulation
- Visible deformity
- Feeling pins and needles in your hands or fingers or you can't feel your hands or fingers at all
- Can't move wrist or hand at all
- After initial swelling begin with gentle pain-free wrist movements
- Consider over the counter pain medications to help with pain and inflammation
